DHEC Issues Swimming Advisory for the Singleton Swash Area of Horry County
COLUMBIA, S.C. - The Singleton Swash in the Arcadia section of Horry County has been placed under a swimming advisory, the Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) reported today.
"High bacteria levels have been detected in these areas of the beach, and swimming is not advised until bacteria levels return to normal," said Sean Torrens of DHEC's Pee Dee Environmental Affairs office in Myrtle Beach.
Recreational activities that involve submersion in the ocean where there is a possibility of swallowing water should be avoided. People with open cuts or wounds should also avoid contact with the water.
