The Recreational Waters program performs routine inspections and provides technical assistance to public swimming facilities located throughout the state.
Enforcement - Public Swimming Pools/Spas
Permitted Activities - Failure to get a Construction Permit prior to beginning construction of a public swimming pool/spa will result in a violation.
Failure to get Operational Approval (including a piping inspection before completion of construction) prior to beginning operation of a public swimming pool/spa will result in a violation.
Failure to get a Change Order Permit prior to making any modifications to an existing public swimming pool/spa will result in a violation.
General Operation/Maintenance - Failure to operate and maintain a public swimming pool or spa in accordance with the Regulations for Public Swimming Pools will result in violation(s). These deficiencies are normally identified through a DHEC Public Swimming Pool Inspection.
