Welcome to South Carolina's WIC resource page. SC WIC has worked alongside and formed partnerships with many organizations throughout the state to increase participant reach and to be inclusive of different types of participants. Here you will find valuable online resources that could help you serve our targeted populations.

 

  • Bridgeview Village is a 300-unit affordable housing apartment complex in Charleston, SC owned by Standard Communities, one of the largest affordable housing owners in the country. Through the WIC community impact initiatives for affordable housing, the program brings WIC awareness and services to qualified families who currently reside at Bridgeview. In addition, WIC participants can take advantage this affordable housing opportunity. Download the flyer for more info.
  • Children's Trust of South Carolina is a state-wide organization focused on the prevention of child abuse and neglect. It provides funding, resources, and training to help local program partners build strong families and positive childhoods. 
  • Dietaryguidelines.gov provides advice on what to eat and drink to build a healthy diet that can promote healthy growth and development, help prevent diet-related chronic disease, and meet nutrient needs. What we eat and drink is important at every stage of life, and it is never too early or too late to eat healthfully.
  • Eatright.org, the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, represents more than 100,000 credentialed practitioners- registered dietitian nutritionists, dietetic technicians, registered, and other dietetics and nutrition professionals holding undergraduate and advanced degrees in nutrition and dietetics, and students- and is committed to improving the nation's health and advancing the profession of dietetics through research, education, and advocacy. 
  • First Choice by Select Health of South Carolina partners with local schools, community groups, faith-based organizations, businesses, and government agencies to reach out and make true, impactful differences in South Carolina's communities. Through these partnerships, Select Health work to improve the quality of life for its members and their families. 
  • First Five South Carolina is committed to serving as a holistic tool for families to increase knowledge, choice, and access. First Five SC aims to support communities and professionals who help families across the state. Find the support your child needs from birth through age five. 
  • First Steps, a nonprofit and state agency, focuses on getting children ready for school and life success. The team works to support the success of all kids from birth through age 5 by serving families, their communities, and early childhood education providers. 
  • FNS USDA's mission is to increase food security and reduce hunger by providing children and low-income people access to food, a healthful diet, and nutrition education in a way that supports American agriculture and inspires public confidence. 
  • Learn the Signs. Act Early, provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, aims to improve the early identification of children with autism and other developmental disabilities so children and families can get the services and support they need. 
  • Myplate.gov: a healthy eating routine is important at every stage of life and can have positive effects that add up over time. It's important to eat a variety of fruits, vegetables, grains, protein foods, and dairy and fortified soy alternatives. When deciding what to eat or drink, choose options that are full of nutrients. Make every bite count. 
  • National WIC Association is a non-profit education arm and advocacy voice of the WIC program, the over 7 million mothers and young children served by WIC, and the 12,000 service provider Agencies who are the front lines of WIC's public health nutrition services for the nation's nutritional at-risk mothers and young children. 
  • Nutrition.gov is a USDA- sponsored website that offers credible information to help you make healthful eating choices.
  • Partners for Early Attuned Relationships (PEAR) provides infant and early childhood mental health consultation to families and professionals statewide. Consultation aims to promote awareness of healthy social and emotional development, prevent mental health crises, and address challenging behaviors in children. This collaborative relationship-based approach pairs a mental health consultant with adults working with infants and young children in the settings where they learn and grow. This is a no-cost service available through South Carolina Infant Mental Health Association. 
  • PASOS, a Hispanic-based outreach organization, has helped SC WIC reach Hispanic communities statewide to share valuable information and connect families to WIC services. PASOS helps the Latino community and service providers work together for strong and healthy families. 
  • South Carolina Head Start Association is a free program for young children from low-income families. Children who participate take part in fun activities that help develop educations and social skills. They also receive nutritious meals, health care, and play in a supervised setting. 
  • South Carolina Healthy Connections Medicaid is a medical assistance program that helps pay for some or all medical bills for many people who cannot afford health care such as hospital and doctor bills, prescriptions, medical equipment, rides to and from doctor visits and more. Eligibility is determined by several factors, which may include your age, whether you are pregnant, have a disability, your income and assets; and whether you are a U.S. citizen or are lawfully present.   • South Carolina Infant Mental Health Association is a multidisciplinary association of professionals working to promote nurturing relationships for infants, young children and their families through resources, policies and practices to foster healthy social-emotional development and well-being.
